Habitat Network
Habitat Network is a group of people dedicated to conserving, reconnecting, and creating habitat for native plants and animals. Habitat Network allows for regular people like us to map out habitats and change them for the better. Habitat Network can help save endangered animal species by giving it a home and protecting it from threats. One of our many goals this year is trying to support birds.
There are many things you can do to support the birds with Habitat Network. Some of the thing that we have done are exploring the purpose of snags, nest boxes in yards, deciduous trees, and shrubs, native evergreen trees and shrubs, water features, trees or shrubs with a food source, helping deduct window fatalities, not using insecticides, and protecting cats.
Snags can offer a home for fungi and also a habitat for birds to nest in. Nest boxes in yards provide habitats for birds and increase the bird population. Deciduous trees and shrub can be used to provide canopies for birds and save money for the community in many different ways. Native Evergreens trees keep their leaves all year round and provide habitat for birds in the winter and year round. Water features help because they attract birds and build a watershed. Trees or shrubs with a food source can provide food for the birds, such as apples from a Crabapple tree. You can help deduct widow fatalities if you try and minimize window fatalities by putting bird baths and bird houses away from windows and by putting pictures on windows. Not using insecticides would help a lot as Insecticides can create toxic fumes and can quickly kill anyone or anything that inhales it. You can protect cats by not feeding them if you do they will come back and their free food will be unnatural.
